Letter from the Board regarding the Low Pressure Issue
In the past year, we have been working on a major project to install a new Master Meter and Water Lines. This project will enhance our water pressure and flow throughout the community. It has become necessary to do this project because of the flow of water from Charlotte County Utilities to the El Jobean Water Association Customers, has decreased in pressure. There has also been an increase of usage due to the growth of new homes in the area, and Charlotte County Utilities has had, and will be having, in simple terms, to push more water across the bridge. We are getting very near to completing the funding for this project from the State Revolving Fund. A loan close to $300,000.00 will be secured at 1% interest for 20 years. This will mean a small assessment to your water bill of approximately $3.00 per month depending on the loan payments. All the monies collected from the assessment will go to repaying the loan. A contract has been awarded to complete this project and hopefully work will begin by year end. Once it has been started, it will take up to 120 days to complete, barring unforeseen complications. In the meantime, we ask for your understanding and patience for the lower water pressure. $5.00 Protection Plan
We suggest that when you leave your residence for extended periods that you have us turn the water off at the meter and lock it. The fee is $5.00 on and $5.00 off. This protects you from misuse or possible leaks at your property while you are away. A 24- hour notice is required and cannot be done on the weekends, holidays, or after hours without incurring a $95.00 after hours call out fee. This fee does not apply to water line breaks.
